This Month at the Chamber:
October has been a productive month for the Chamber. Leadership Granville is in full swing. This month the LG class has participated in Agriculture Day, attended a City Commissioners meeting, they’ve spent a day learning about the County’s history, and they’ve been enlightened on Recreation and Tourism in Granville County. The Leadership Granville Steering Committee is the best and this program could not operate with out them!
The Chamber is so grateful to those volunteers who serve on the Steering Committee and for the future community leaders who are participating in this program! On October 6th, Granville County welcomed CycleNC. Over 600 cyclists came through Stem, Creedmoor, and Butner. The cyclists were shuttled from the Creedmoor Community Center to Butner GazeboPark to enjoy a night of live music from the Band of Oz, delicious food, and community spirit. We all know that Granville County is the epitome of southern hospitality and the cyclists truly felt that. Thank you to our Alive After Five sponsors, our wonderful volunteers, our vendors, the Town of Butner, Butner PD, Granville Co. Sherriff’s Dept., and Angela Allen, Granville County TDA Director for all of your help in making sure that this event was a success! We look forward to bringing Alive After Five back to you in 2022!
Cluck’n Shuck finally made a comeback this month after a couple of years of bad luck (oyster shortage and pandemic). It was so nice to be outside on a beautiful fall night enjoying delicious food and great fellowship. Thank you to Granville County for allowing the Chamber to utilize the Expo Center as a venue. As life slowly creeps back to normal, we are thankful for wonderful outdoor & spacious venues. The Chamber is thankful to our members who sponsored this event and for everyone who came out and supported us! Stay tuned for Cluck’n Shuck 2022!
While events are fun, that’s not all that the Chamber offers. We’ve been visiting with our members and serving on multiple community committees to see what we can do to maximize your membership to this organization. We are partnering with VGCC Small Business Center and offering our membership a free class on utilizing Canva for your business. We were able to be a part of history in October and attended the name-change ceremony for Granville Correctional Institution. The Chamber is also participating in the 2nd Annual Coats for Kids sponsored by the Drug Free Coalition. If you have any coats that you can donate we have a dropoff box at our office.
